First week, first day, first lesson.
Well, it was my second lesson really, but the title wouldn’t have sounded as good. As this blog grows, I aim for the reading of past entries to be a kind of “time travel” of where I was and how far I have come in studying for my Bachelor of Music Studies at Adelaide University discussing various aspects in this course that I have learned and revealing experiences that I have, well, experienced.
After an introduction and an overview of the aims and objectives of our course by Christian Haines we proceeded to dive into the course with a discussion on basic concepts of sound. I found the use of the old philosophical question of “If a tree falls in the forest, and there is no one to hear it, will there be a sound?”[1] explanation very interesting and I enjoyed the encouragement of getting the mind to think outside the square. I like thinking outside the square. Sometimes I probably think a little too much outside the square. Lol. By the way, the apparent answer to the question can be both yes and no.
